Former Actress Mamta Kulkarni Becomes Hindu Nun, Consecrated as 'Mahamandaleshwar' Read

Former Bollywood actress Mamta Kulkarni has embraced ascetic life and been consecrated as a Hindu nun under the Kinnar Akhara. The actress, once known for her roles in the 90s, performed her own ‘Pind Daan’—a ritual signifying renunciation of worldly ties—before her formal induction into the spiritual order.

Kulkarni will now hold the revered title of ‘Mahamandaleshwar’, a position of high spiritual authority within the sect. The Kinnar Akhara, known for its inclusion of transgender saints and sanyasis, has welcomed her into its fold, marking a significant transformation in her life.

Sources close to the Akhara revealed that Mamta Kulkarni has been practicing a life of devotion and austerity for years before taking this final step into sainthood. Her initiation ceremony took place in Haridwar with senior saints and spiritual leaders in attendance.

Her transition from Bollywood to monastic life has surprised many, but she is reportedly at peace with her new spiritual path.
