Former Bihar DGP Alok Raj becomes Chairman of SSC, will take charge in the new year

Patna: Former Bihar Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Raj has been appointed chairman of Bihar Staff Selection Commission (BSSC). The General Administration Department issued a notification in this regard on Wednesday. Till now he was holding the additional charge of this post which has now been made permanent.

Presently Alok Raj is working as Director General cum Managing Director of Bihar Police Building Construction Corporation. According to the notification, his appointment will be effective from January 1, 2026 and his tenure will be for five years or till he attains the age of 65 years (whichever is earlier).
Have received gallantry medal

Alok Raj is a 1989 batch IPS officer. Apart from Bihar, he has also played important responsibilities in Jharkhand and West Bengal. After becoming IPS, his first posting was as ASP in Patna. He was awarded gallantry medal for the encounter of four notorious criminals. In undivided Bihar, he was the police captain of Ranchi, Gumla, Deoghar, West Singhbhum, Hazaribagh as well as Sitamarhi and Begusarai, where his work has been highly appreciated.

Alok Raj is a resident of Muzaffarpur.

Alok Raj did M.Sc. in Geology from Patna University. He has studied and has been a gold medalist. He also served in the CRPF from 2004 to 2011, where he was awarded the DG’s Appreciation Disc. Alok Raj, originally from Muzaffarpur district, is also interested in art and music and has presented his songs on many stages.
