Janardan Paswan's political journey

Janardan Paswan became MLA for the first time in 1995 by winning the election from Chatra Assembly on Janata Dal ticket. Later, in 2009, he was re-elected as MLA on RJD ticket. In the 2014 assembly elections, he contested on RJD ticket, but he had to face defeat from BJP's Jaiprakash Singh Bhokta.

There will be competition with the daughter-in-law of Satyanand Bhokta

Chatra Assembly seat is reserved for Scheduled Caste (SC) and the number of Paswan voters is significant here. Being adjacent to Bihar, this area also has the influence of Bihar politics. Presently Satyanand Bhokta is RJD MLA from Chatra and is also a minister in Hemant Soren government. However, due to ST status of Bhokta caste, Satyanand Bhokta will not be able to contest elections from Chatra this time.
