A state function was organized in Patna today on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Dr. Shri Krishna Singh, the first Chief Minister of Bihar and popularly known as Bihar Kesari. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar paid tribute to Dr. Shri Krishna Singh by garlanding the statue located in the courtyard of the Chief Secretariat in Patna. During this, the Chief Minister also threw light on various aspects of the personality of Dr. Shri Krishna Singh. During this, artists of the Information and Public Relations Department presented a program of Aarti puja, bhajan-kirtan, Bihar songs and patriotic songs.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of Bihar Kesari Dr. Shri Krishna Singh, both the Deputy Chief Ministers of Bihar, Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, besides Bihar Assembly Speaker Nand Kishore Yadav, Water Resources cum Parliamentary Affairs Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Information and Public Relations Minister Maheshwar Hazari, Small Water Resource Minister Santosh Kumar Suman, Transport Minister Sheela Kumari, MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, MLA Anil Kumar, Legislative Councilor Sanjay Kumar Singh alias Gandhiji, Legislative Councilor Kumud Verma were also present. Everyone paid tribute to Shri Krishna Singh by paying floral tributes at his life-size statue.

Contributed in making modern Bihar

Dr. Shri Krishna Singh was the first Chief Minister of Bihar. He was the Chief Minister of Bihar from 1946 to 1961. He was born on 21 October 1887 and died on 31 January 1961. The country is celebrating his 137th birth anniversary today. Every year the Bihar government celebrates his birth anniversary with great respect. Dr. Shri Krishna Singh is considered to have played an important role in making modern Bihar.

Zamindari system was once prevalent in Bihar but Dr. Krishna Singh played a big role in eradicating it. From removing social discrimination to laying the foundation of education and industry in Bihar, he played a revolutionary role in taking the state forward on the path of development, which is discussed with respect even today. Considering his contributions, he is called Bihar Kesari.
