Gupteshwar Pandey, former DGP of Bihar, has made a big revelation. On Thursday (April 02, 2026) he was talking to journalists at Patna Airport. On camera he claimed that kidnappings had started from Bihar itself. He has held a ‘Yadav’ IPS responsible behind this.
However, Gupteshwar Pandey did not take the full name of that IPS officer. Said that earlier robbery used to happen in Bettiah. There were big gangs of dacoits throughout Bagaha and Bettiah. There were dozens of gangs. He accused the then SP of Bettiah that he had compromised by calling the gang.
The former DGP said that in the district where dacoities were taking place, the police headquarters used to attack the SP about why dacoities were taking place. Stop it. He (the then SP of Bettiah) failed to stop it. In a way, they made a compromise with the criminals that there is a lot of pressure on them to stop dacoity. At that time that IPS explained to the gang that the crime of robbery is a very big crime.
The SP had said to gently catch the people with money. Take the money and leave. Kidnapping started from there in Bihar. Gupteshwar Pandey said, “I am speaking on record… go and find out all the old police officers.
Gupteshwar Pandey said, “There was SP in Bettiah, his name was DAS DAS Yadav… who was an officer of Andhra Pradesh cadre. He had come here on deputation. He started kidnappings. This is in the history of Bihar. It spread gradually.” Taking the name of CM Nitish Kumar, he said that if he comes, he will end the kidnapping. On a question, Gupteshwar Pandey said, “I was not in job at that time”.
