Former England legend extends his support to Prithvi Shaw amid criticism
Prithvi Shaw has emerged out of nowhere post-IPL auction 2025. From being known as the name of the future in Indian cricket, Shaw’s career has taken a downward spiral. The name went on to appear in two auctions, not a paddle going up despite a base price of Rs 75 lakh, as here. This ipso facto means that for the very first time since Shaw debuted in the IPL in 2018, he won’t feature in one season.
Besides that, Shaw has also taken a great deal of stinging criticism from former India cricketers and critics because of his behaviour and lack of fitness.
Now, it turns out that the former English batsman, Kevin Pietersen, has said that Prithvi Shaw should focus his energies on becoming super fit and before that, must go off social media, if at all he wants to enjoy the taste of success all over again.
Although Shaw began his Test career with a hundred on debut as a teenager, at 25, he is now at the crossroads of his career since no IPL franchise has bothered to even make a bid for him at the base price of Rs 75 lakh.
Many have stated that off-the-field persona has definitely affected one’s game on-field, with former ODI specialist of India Mohammed Kaif being one of them, who thought that Shaw has shown promise time and again but did not deliver on the field.
“Some of the greatest sports stories are COMEBACK stories. If Prithvi Shaw has decent people around him who care about his long-term success, they’d sit him down, tell him to get off social media & train his absolute backside off in getting super fit. It’ll get him back into the correct path where past success can return. Too talented to throw it all away. Love, KP!,” Pietersen wrote on ‘X’

Of late, Prithvi Shaw was left out of the Mumbai Ranji team on account of being overweight and unfit. He has returned for the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, but still has not done anything remarkable so far.
