‘There is a bigger match winner than him in Test cricket…’, former Indian cricketer said a big thing after snatching the vice-captaincy from Rishabh Pant

Rishabh Pant: The Indian Premier League has now reached its final stage. The playoffs will start from May 26. Whereas the final match will be played on 31st May. After the end of IPL, the Indian team will host Afghanistan in June. Team India will play a Test match and a series of 3 ODI matches against Afghanistan at home, for which BCCI had announced the squad of Team India on May 19. When the squad was revealed, it was revealed that Rishabh Pant was removed from the vice-captaincy of the Test and the responsibility was given to KL Rahul.

Rishabh Pant has come into discussion after becoming the vice-captain of the Indian Test team. Fans and veterans believe that Rishabh Pant has been removed from the vice-captaincy in IPL 2026 due to his poor captaincy and not scoring runs even with the bat. Lucknow Super Giants is at the bottom i.e. 10th in the points table this season. LSG, captained by Pant, has managed to win only 4 out of 13 matches. Now a big statement of former Indian cricketer Mohammad Kaif has come out regarding Pant.

Mohammad Kaif said, “Rishabh Pant has done nothing wrong. Test match, red ball cricket and white ball cricket are completely different formats. You can judge someone on the basis of IPL – thinking that ‘yes, he is not performing well as a captain, his team is losing, and he himself is not scoring runs’ – my personal belief is that even today Rishabh Pant is bigger in Test match cricket. There is no match winner with the bat. I am talking specifically about the Test format. People easily ignore this difference, and that creates the problem.

Difficult for Rishabh Pant to get a place in Team India’s playing 11

Rishabh Pant has been included as a batsman in Team India’s squad for the test match against Afghanistan. He has not got a place as a wicketkeeper. KL Rahul and Dhruv Jurel are included in the team as wicketkeepers. KL Rahul has been made the vice-captain, so he will also be seen doing wicketkeeping. In such a situation, Pant may be dropped from the playing 11. Whereas Rishabh Pant has not got a place in Team India’s squad for the ODI series.
