Former Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp appointed global head of football at Red Bull

NEW DELHI New Delhi: Jurgen Klopp has been appointed global head of football at Red Bull, his first appointment after stepping down from a successful stint at Premier League giants Liverpool, the company said on Wednesday. Klopp, who Will begins his new role on January 1, 2025, ending his successful nine-year tenure with Liverpool after the 2023–24 Premier League season.

Klopp, whose coaching career began with Mainz 05 in 2001, said, “After almost 25 years on the sidelines, I couldn't be more excited to be involved in a project like this. Even though the role may have changed , but my passion for soccer and the people who make the game haven't changed.” Energy drink brand Red Bull is associated with RB Leipzig in Germany's Bundesliga, Austrian side Red Bull Hamburg and Major League Soccer side New York Red Bulls, as well as Brazilian side Red Bulls. The German will oversee Red Bull's international network of football clubs. Additionally, the 57-year-old will support the organisation's global scouting operations, and contribute to the training and development of coaches. He will not be involved in daily operations, but will oversee a group of clubs, which has become his hallmark as a coach.
