Nepal's former home minister Lamichhane will be presented in court on Sunday.

Nepal's former Home Minister Ravi Lamichhane, who was arrested from Kathmandu on Friday evening in the cooperative scam case, was taken to Pokhara by road overnight due to security reasons. Pokhara police station will present Lamichhane in the court on Sunday and seek his custody for 15 days.

Ravi Lamichhane, accused in the scam of about Rs 135 crore of various co-operative banks, was arrested by the police from the office of his Rashtriya Swatantra Party in Kathmandu. Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) SP Havindra Bogti, who is investigating the scam, said that due to security reasons, the accused was taken to Pokhara by road overnight. On the way from Kathmandu to Pokhara, the police had to face opposition from Ravi's supporters at many places but due to tight security arrangements, no untoward incident took place.


Bogti said that Lamichhane was taken to Pokhara at 4 am on Saturday morning. His medical examination was done in the Medical College of Pokhara itself and he was handed over to the custody of Pokhara Police. Due to Saturday being a public holiday, he will now be produced in the district court on Sunday. Pokhara police will seek his 15-day custody from the district court.
