Former Pakistan PM Imran Khan filed petition in Lahore High Court for bail
Lahore: Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday filed a petition in the Lahore High Court seeking anticipatory bail in eight cases related to the May 9 violence. Khan, who is jailed, has argued in his petition that he was in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) in Islamabad at the time of the incidents and was falsely implicated under political persecution.
Khan has said that he has been facing legal actions related to these matters for the last two years. Khan termed the cases registered against him as an act of political vendetta. Khan told the court that he has been facing political harassment and several fake cases for the last two years. He requested the court to grant anticipatory bail.

According to Pakistan Today news, the petition has urged the court to grant bail in all eight cases and order their release. Earlier, the Lahore anti-terrorism court had rejected his bail plea in cases including the Jinnah House attack. Khan has been named in 12 cases related to the May 9 incidents.
However, he has already got bail in four of those cases. Khan is in Rawalpindi's Adiala Jail since mid-2023 on multiple charges. Khan's party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf is at loggerheads with the federal government ahead of general elections in February 2024. (with input agency)
