Former Pakistan star calls team ‘a comedy serial’ after shock loss to 10th-ranked Bangladesh
Former Pakistan players have turned against the national team after the team suffered a defeat in the ODI series against Bangladesh. The Men in Green went down by a margin of 1-2 in the away assignment, with the host dominating the batting and bowling departments. After Pakistan’s elimination from the Super 8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, the Shaheen Afridi-led team lost the series decider by 11 runs.
Pakistan are ranked 4th in the ICC ODI Rankings while Bangladesh are 10. The selectors added six new faces to the team, which also impacted their display against the Tigers.
Former wicket-keeper batter Kamran Akmal slammed the team. “There is no need to get hyper. I watch matches like a comedy serial, and I am enjoying it. We are used to this. If the current management plays 30 different players in three matches, the result will not change,” Kamran Akmal said on a talk show.
“They are not bothered about the outcome. They are more interested in experiments. Pakistan cricket is losing, but they don’t care. Pakistan lost to the 10th-ranked team. The interest of the fans is going down,” he added.
Pakistan skipper Shaheen won the toss and invited Bangladesh to bat first, and the home side managed to post 290/5, with Tanzid Hasan scoring a hundred.
Litton Das (41) and Towhid Hridoy (48) were also among the runs. In reply, Salman Ali Agha scored a century, but the team fell short in the end. Saad Masood (38) and Shaheen Afridi (37) also added important runs, but it didn’t help the team.
