Former Pakistani player makes a massive statement regarding Leak saga
The news surfacing from the Indian dressing room around Gautam Gambhir has been at its peak, recently claiming that it was the head coach who called India batter Sarfaraz Khan for causing the ‘leaks.’ As per a video report of News 24, Gambhir is said to have pointed out Sarfaraz for leaking information from the dressing room meeting with members from the BCCI and the captain Rohit Sharma and the chief selector Ajit Agarkar among others. Although no confirmation or evidence backs this, former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has erupted that these reports are not good for the team.
“I have heard it in India for the first time that a baseball team is trailing and grouping. Media is strong in all Asia, whether it is Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Pakistan, or India, you get news,” Basit Ali said on his YouTube channel.
Ali requested that if any of the allegations were true, Gambhir should stop the “blame game.”
“Talking about Sarfaraz (Khan) leaking the dressing room talks and board meeting thoughts getting out. This is no good; it hurts the team unity. The sooner it’s quashed, the better,” stated Ali.
“There shouldn’t be any blame game, Gautam Gambhir needs to act here. Was Sarfaraz present in the (BCCI review) meeting?” Ali added on.
Though obviously the conversation about the leaking of news has not yet been passed on to Gambhir, Sarfaraz, or the team, BCCI imposed a 10-point general directive for the players, especially to do with increasing domestic cricket and reducing extensive family time while on tours.
Basit Ali put aside the importance of players, selectors and coaches working together for some form of team unity.
“There are four pillars – chairman, selectors, captain and players. They need to be together to form a good team. They should have the same mindset. All these four pillars should be on the same page. Such news is spread to affect the team environment and the media plays a key role. Whether it is targeted towards Virat, Rohit or another group at Gambhir,” remarked Basit Ali.
