Former Punjab IG Amar Singh Chahal shot himself, mentioned online fraud of Rs 8 crore in 12 page suicide note.

Desk: Former Inspector General of Police (IG) Amar Singh Chahal shot himself at his home in Patiala, Punjab. He shot the security personnel in the stomach with his revolver. After getting injured, his family members immediately admitted him to Park Hospital, Patiala. The team of doctors has started treating the former IG but his condition is said to be critical.

Police have recovered a 12-page suicide note from the spot in which it has been mentioned that financial problems are due to online fraud. However, police officials have made it clear that the case is being investigated from all aspects and the facts will be thoroughly investigated before reaching any conclusion. Senior officials said that the forensic team has conducted an investigation on the spot and collected necessary evidence. Along with this, statements of family members and related people are also being recorded. The real reasons for the incident will be known only after the investigation is completed. At present the police is keeping an eye on the entire matter.

Appeal to DGP

Amar Singh Chahal’s family members told that an incident of online fraud had happened to him in which the fraudsters had defrauded him of Rs 8 crore. He has mentioned this in his 12 page suicide note. He has written this letter to the DGP of Punjab in which he has appealed for immediate attention to this matter.
Accused in Faridkot case
Let us tell you that Amar Singh Chahal is an accused in the 2015 Faridkot firing case. In this case, on 24 February 2023, the Special Investigation Team of Punjab Police under the leadership of ADGP LK Yadav had filed a charge sheet in a court in Faridkot. The name of Aram Singh Chahal is included in this. Names of many big leaders of Punjab have also been included in this charge sheet.
