Former Punjab Police IG Amar Singh Chahal shot himself, suicide note recovered on the spot, panic in the police department

New Delhi. Former Punjab Police IG Amar Singh Chahal has shot himself in Patiala. He was immediately admitted to a private hospital in Patiala, where his condition remains critical. According to SP City Palwinder Singh Cheema, police have also found a suicide note from the spot. At present the investigation of the case is going on. According to the information, the former IG was shot in the chest. It is also being told that the matter is related to cyber fraud worth crores. The incident of such a dreadful step being taken by a former police officer has created a stir.

Amar Singh Chahal has been among the accused in the 2015 Faridkot firing case. On 24 February 2023, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Punjab Police, led by ADGP LK Yadav, filed a chargesheet in a Faridkot court. The names of many political leaders and senior police officers were included in this charge sheet. The then Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal, his son and former Home Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, former DGP Sumedh Singh Saini, IG Paramraj Singh Umranangal, former DIG Amar Singh Chahal, former SSP Sukhminder Singh Mann and SSP Charanjit Singh Sharma were named in the charge sheet.
