Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje's meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Delhi has fueled political speculation in the state. After the meeting on Friday, Rajasthan BJP in-charge Radha Mohan Das Agarwal shared a photo of the conversation on social media, writing: “Many best wishes and congratulations.” This is leading to rumors that Raje may be selected for some important post at the national level, possibly as the national president of the BJP – this discussion has been going on for several weeks.
This meeting held in Parliament lasted for about 20 to 25 minutes, in which the political and developmental situation of Rajasthan was discussed. According to reports, Prime Minister Modi sought feedback from Raje and he shared his views on the progress made under the Bhajan Lal government, while also raising concerns over some organizational matters.
Sources say Raje specifically mentioned the issues of Baran-Jhalawar and criticized the government's alleged indifference towards development projects in the region. He also said that he is treated respectfully in meetings with the Chief Minister, but concrete progress on pending issues is slow.
Raje reportedly clarified that she does not want any post but wants to see effective governance to ensure BJP's success in the 2028 elections. PM Modi assured them that development concerns would be addressed and encouraged them to remain connected with the party's organizational efforts.
The political discussion around Raje has intensified after his contribution was praised by PM Modi recently during a function organized to mark the first anniversary of the Bhajan Lal government. He credited him for carrying forward the legacy of good governance started by Bhairon Singh Shekhawat and highlighted that the present government is working on the solid foundation laid by him.
Raje's meeting with PM Modi and the praise he received has given rise to widespread speculation about his possible return to the national stage – a move that could significantly impact the BJP's strategy in Rajasthan and beyond.
