At present, the authorities have not yet disclosed the name in the case but Ukrainian media has identified the arrested person as a former minister of Ukraine.
According to law enforcement sources cited by local media, Galushchenko was stopped while traveling outside Ukraine and later transferred to Kiev for investigative procedures. Officials said further information would be released after the initial legal process is completed.
Galushchenko was the country’s Energy Minister for many years. But then he was accused of corruption and he resigned from the post in November last year. He was among the ministers who resigned together in 2025. NABU had exposed an alleged money laundering conspiracy in the country’s energy sector. Investigative agencies believe that this conspiracy was carried out by a close aide of President Volodymyr.
