Foundation stone laid with great pomp in Murshidabad… but why heavy security? Is Bengal again standing on the threshold of a big communal storm?
New Delhi: A big ceremony was organized for the laying of the foundation of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad district of West Bengal. This program was organized today i.e. on 6th December in Ayodhya, on the 33rd anniversary of the demolition of Babri Masjid in 1992, due to which there is a situation of tension in the entire area. The administration has deployed heavy police force in the area to prevent any kind of incident.
The event was organized by suspended Trinamool Congress (TMC) MLA Humayun Kabir. Thousands of people gathered at the program and slogans were raised in support of Kabir. Considering the date and atmosphere of the event, the state government and local administration are continuously monitoring the situation.
How did the ceremony begin?
The foundation stone ceremony started with Quran recitation at around 12 noon. To participate in this, people traveled hundreds of kilometers from many districts including Malda, Murshidabad, South 24 Parganas. The size of the crowd in Beldanga was so large that the local administration had to call additional security forces.
‘Claim to make coffee for Babri Masjid’
Humayun Kabir claimed that the mosque to be built here would be an ‘exact replica’ of Babri Masjid. He said that this is our religious right and we will maintain peace. TMC has already suspended Kabir from the party, distancing itself from this controversial event. The party says that this is their personal decision and TMC has nothing to do with it.
Humayun Kabir’s claim
People of Malda, Murshidabad and South 24 Parganas will contribute to the construction of Babri Masjid. I have 25 bighas of land, but the administration is stopping us. We will not need government money. A person has promised us Rs 80 crore for the construction of the mosque, but I will not reveal his name. He also said that the sanctity of the mosque will not remain intact by taking government funds.
Humayun Kabir praised the police administration and said that West Bengal Police is supporting me and protecting me. I thank you for this. I congratulate the entire Muslim community. Kabir also reminded from the stage that he had announced in 2024 that he would inaugurate the Babri Masjid in Beldanga, and now on December 6, the first step has been taken in the same direction. Meanwhile, security agencies are keeping a close watch on the situation to prevent any kind of communal tension.
