Foundation stone of Rs 15 crore degree college laid in Punjab, big announcement by CM Bhagwant Mann
Punjab News: Laying the foundation stone of the Government Degree College to be built at a cost of Rs 15 crore today in Ajnala area adjacent to the international border, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that Congress, Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP in mutual connivance looted Punjab indiscriminately for decades, hollowed out the institutions of the state and forced the youth to go abroad in search of employment.
The Chief Minister said that the new college reflects the commitment of the Aam Aadmi Party government to strengthen education, create employment opportunities and make Punjab again “Rangla Punjab” through public participation. He announced that the college will be named after the respected personality Baba Gamchuk Ji Maharaj.
The Chief Minister said that while the State Government will provide all possible facilities and institutional support, it is also the duty of every Punjabi to contribute as per his capacity, so that Punjab can again be made “Rangla Punjab” and our children are not forced to leave the country in search of a better future.
Addressing the public meeting on this occasion, Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann said that the infighting within these traditional parties is at its peak as they do not have any concrete agenda for the welfare of the public. He said, “The opposition has no agenda for Punjab. They are only waiting for their turn to loot the people and the resources of the state. Their designs will never be fulfilled because the people of Punjab are wise and brave and fully recognize the dubious character of such leaders.”
Appeal to power-hungry leaders to be cautious
Appealing to the public to be cautious of opportunistic and power-hungry leaders, the Chief Minister said that the sole objective of the traditional parties has been to loot Punjab and its people. He said, “The need of the hour is to completely reject such parties, so that the efforts of the state government to create Rangla Punjab can yield positive results.”
The Chief Minister said that his government is rapidly taking development forward by opening new Aam Aadmi clinics, schools and colleges as well as implementing other public welfare schemes. On this occasion, the Chief Minister said that the foundation stone of a co-educational college has been laid in Bakraur village adjacent to the international border. He said, “With this college, the youth of the border areas will be able to get higher education near their homes. Rs 15 crore will be spent on this institute to be built in an area of 15 acres.” He thanked the Panchayat and residents of village Bakraur for donating land for this project.
The Chief Minister said that this college will benefit the youth of 50 nearby villages and more than 2000 students are expected to enroll here in the coming years. He said that courses in Arts, Science, Commerce, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence and Digital Education will be conducted here, which will ensure modern and quality education to the students of the border areas.
He expressed confidence that this college will play an important role in the better future of the youth of the area, especially girls. The Chief Minister said that the aspirations and dreams of the youth are high and the state government is committed to realizing them through continuous cooperation. He said, “Our focus is on the welfare of the present and future generations, so that Punjab can move forward on the path of development and prosperity. The welfare of every section of the society is our main objective.
The Chief Minister announced that students of the village who donated land for the college would be provided free education in this institution. He said that the college will be named as a tribute to Baba Gamchuk Ji Maharaj. He said that parents should ensure quality education for their children so that they are not forced to go abroad in search of opportunities.
Jobs to more than 63,000 youth
Speaking on the issue of migration, the Chief Minister said that it is necessary to end the frustration spread among the youth, so that reverse migration can be promoted. He said that previous governments ignored this serious challenge and ruined the system, forcing the youth to leave the country. The Chief Minister said that his government has provided permanent government jobs to more than 63,000 youth on the basis of merit alone.
Speaking on the concerns of the border residents, the Chief Minister said that the Punjab government is making every possible effort for their welfare, as they are patriots in the true sense. He said that in a big relief to the farmers of the border area, the Central Government has given in-principle approval to shift the barbed wire towards the international border, which will enable uninterrupted farming on thousands of acres of agricultural land. Which is beyond the barbed wire at this time. Farmers were earlier forced to cross barbed wire under BSF protection to reach their fields along the 532 km Indo-Pak border. After persistent efforts, progress has finally been made on this long-pending issue.
On this occasion, Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, while highlighting the achievements of the state government in the education sector, said that Punjab has emerged as a leader at the national level. He said that the upcoming project will change the fate of the youth of this border district, this is a historic day which has become possible due to the visionary thinking of the Chief Minister and the state government.
During this, senior AAP leader and Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia called it a guiding step towards empowering the youth in the border areas. He said it was unfortunate that there was no college within a radius of 70 kilometers in Ajnala. The long standing demand of the people has been fulfilled today. We believe in delivering on every promise we make and this college reflects that commitment.
Cabinet Minister Harjot Singh Bains, Harbhajan Singh ETO, Punjab in-charge Manish Sisodia, MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal and other party leaders and local representatives were present in the ceremony.
Revolutionary step of Bhagwant Mann government for border youth
By establishing a Government Degree and Vocational Training College at Bakraur, the Mann government has fulfilled the decades-old demand of the people of the border area. Earlier, students had to go to Amritsar, about 40 kilometers away, for higher education, due to which girls, especially girls, had to leave their studies midway.
Fulfilling a long-standing public good commitment and translating it into concrete action at the grassroots level, the State Government has ensured that students from over 50 surrounding villages get direct access to quality higher education and skill-based learning on the 15-acre campus. In this, degree programs will be combined with employment-oriented courses such as computer science, artificial intelligence and digital skills.
It has been developed as a modern and student-centric institution with professional facilities and sports infrastructure. The college is set to become an inspiring center for social equality and youth empowerment in the sensitive border area of Punjab, reflecting the strength of the Mann government’s governance model of equal opportunity for all.
