Four Indians, including Kerala sailor ‘Akhil Joyn’, died in a Russian missile attack on Ukraine’s Odessa port. ‘Akhil’ was to get married after two months.

New Delhi, Thiruvananthapuram. 26-year-old sailor ‘Akhil Joyan’, resident of Kerala, has died in a horrific Russian missile attack on a cargo ship near the Port of Odessa, Ukraine. A total of four Indian sailors have lost their lives in this attack. Since the incident, there is mourning in the house of the deceased Akhil, because only a week ago Akhil got engaged and after two months only he was going to get married.

Commercial ship loaded with grain targeted

According to the information received, the Russian Army fired three cruise missiles at the Guinea-Bissau flagged commercial ship ‘MV Golden Leo’ which was ready to depart with grain. Let us tell you that in this horrific attack, a total of 10 people aboard the ship died, including four Indians. The Government of India and the Ministry of External Affairs have strongly condemned this attack.

Akhil was going to return to India forever

Let us tell you that ‘Akhil Joyan’ was a resident of Vellarikkundu in Kasaragod district of Kerala and was the only son of his parents. He was working in the Merchant Navy for the last 6 years. During conversation with his family, it was revealed that he was going to leave his job on the ship this month and return to India permanently to start his marriage and new life.

Appeal to the government to bring back the mortal remains

Akhil’s father got information about this tragic incident through the shipping company. As soon as the news of the son’s death was heard, a wave of mourning spread across the area. The victim’s family is now demanding to bring Akhil’s mortal remains to Kerala as soon as possible for the last rites. Local MP ‘Rajmohan Unnithan’ and the Kerala State Government are in constant touch with the Ministry of External Affairs regarding this matter so that the legal procedures can be completed and Akhil’s mortal remains can be brought to India as soon as possible.
