Fragments of a woman's body found in a sugarcane field, a black doll was kept nearby, suspicion of human sacrifice…
Satara:- Decomposed body parts of a woman were found in a sugarcane field in Vidani village of Satara district of Maharashtra. Things like gulal, coconut and a black doll were found near the dead body. Looking at the various objects found near the dead body, it is feared that it could be a human sacrifice. Hamid Dabholkar, convener of Maharashtra Andhra Shraddha Nirmoolan Samiti, an anti-superstition organization, has demanded the Satara Police to investigate whether there is any aspect of superstition in this death.
What is the matter: Police said that on Friday, body parts were found in the field of a person named Pradeep Jadhav. It is feared that the woman might have been murdered somewhere else and later her body might have been thrown in the field. A senior police officer said that the villagers of Phaltan informed the local police about the incident. Senior officers of Satara Police including Additional SP Vaishali Kaduskar, Phaltan DSP Rahul Dhas and Police Inspector Sunil Mahadik reached the spot.
Police searching for other parts of the body: Police said that the deceased has not been identified. The police officer said that looking at the pieces of the body, it seems that the woman might have been murdered a week ago. He told that the torso of the dead woman was missing. The skull was found in a water pond two hundred to three hundred meters away. The police officer said that they are searching for other body parts. Since the sugarcane field is spread over 9 to 10 acres, searching for the remaining body parts is proving challenging.
Fear of superstition: Maharashtra Andhra Shraddha Nirmoolan Samiti convener Hamid Dabholkar said, “Looking at various objects found near the body, it seems that it was a human sacrifice. Maharashtra government has issued orders to set up anti-superstition cells in every police station. However, this is not being followed in many districts. Anti-superstition cells should be set up in police stations of every tehsil and anti-witchcraft laws should be implemented effectively. If this is done then hopefully such incidents can be avoided.
