France offers a major gift to Indian travelers, with transit visas now exempted.

Paris. France has announced a major relief for Indian travelers. Indian citizens traveling through France by air will no longer need an airport transit visa. This decision is being considered a significant step towards strengthening relations between India and France.

India’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated on Friday that the rule came into effect on April 10. He said that Indian travelers transiting through French territory solely by air will no longer need a transit visa, making travel easier than before.

The foundation for this decision was laid during Emmanuel Macron ‘s visit to India in February, when he agreed to simplify the travel process for Indian travelers.

What is a transit visa?
An airport transit visa is a short-term permit that allows travelers to stay at a country’s airport to catch a flight to another country. Travelers cannot leave the airport or enter the country.

When will a visa still be required?
However, if a traveler needs to go through immigration to change flights in France or needs to exit the airport after a long layover, they will need to obtain a short-stay visa.

This decision not only brings great convenience to Indian travellers but also reflects the growing cooperation and trust between the two countries.
