Frankie Faison, Alex Moffat and Heidi Gardner join Cameron Diaz and Stephen Merchant’s rom-com
According to the makers, the film centres on a career-obsessed British man (Merchant) working at a luxury New York hotel who requires a spouse to maintain appearances. He enters a convenient arrangement with a cash-strapped stand-up comedian (Diaz) seeking health insurance. What begins as a practical agreement gradually evolves into an unforeseen romantic connection.
The film is produced by Lee Eisenberg and Merchant, alongside Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagen. Natalie Sandy serves as executive producer.
Faison is known for his comedies such as Coming to America, White Chicks, Till and The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain. He’s works also include Ragtime, Do the Right Thingand all four Hannibal Lecter films. On TV, he has appeared in The Wire, True Colors, Luke Cage, Banshee, Tomorrow! and Ripple.
Garder, who has been on Saturday Night Live for eight seasons, has played a recurring role on the NBC series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins and played a key role in Apple TV’s Shrinking and Netflix’s You. On the big screen, her feature works include Hustle, Life of the Party, Otherhood, Leo and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.
Similarly, Moffat was also a Saturday Night Live alum. He has worked on Susie Searches, Holidatethe live-action Clifford, Someone Great, Opening Act, Brewmanceand Summer of 60.
