Fraud worth crores in the name of online gaming in Patna, 5 cyber gang accused arrested
Police has exposed a big network of cyber fraud in Patna. Police have arrested 5 accused red-handed by raiding Shivpuri area of Shastri Nagar police station area. This gang was cheating people of crores of rupees in the name of online gaming.
The police had received secret information about this gang, after which the team raided a flat. Investigation revealed that the criminals had made this flat their operation centre. From here they used to target people across the country and carry out fraud in a planned manner.
Initial investigation has revealed that this gang especially targeted people from the states of South India. The accused earlier used to motivate people to play online games through attractive offers. After this, they cleverly obtained their bank details and withdrew money from the account. According to the police, till now this gang has defrauded crores of rupees.
During the raid, the police recovered 21 expensive smartphones, 24 active SIM cards, several ATM cards, check books and two high-speed laptops from the accused. These devices were being used to run the fraud network.
Police investigation has also revealed that the gang worked in a very professional manner. Each member had different responsibilities. Customers were given a code name, so that their identity could be kept secret. Conversations and transactions took place through this code name.
During investigation it was also revealed that this gang is also related to online betting. The betting network was being run through online gaming apps only. Police are now investigating the links of this entire network spread across the country and abroad.
On this matter, SDPO Saket Kumar said that all the accused have been arrested in a raid on Thursday evening. He said the investigation into other members of the gang and the network is ongoing, and more revelations may come soon.
