This malware not only steals your cryptocurrency wallet information but also passes your passwords and browsing history to hackers. Bleeping Computer recently reported that hackers are spreading malware through a fake AI video and image generator website named “EditPro”.
The report says that these new AI video tools are being promoted through fake posts on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). The post claims that users do not need any special skills and can use AI tools for free. The links in these fake posts take users to a fake website where they are given the option to download the “EditProAI” tool. “.pro” domains for Windows users and “.org” domains for macOS are being used to spread malware.
Cookie banners and other designing techniques have been used to make this fake website real. When users click on the “Get Now” button, their system will start downloading “Edit-ProAI-Setup-newest_release.exe” (for Windows) or “EditProAi_v.4.36.dmg” (for macOS). So overall, you would be better off being very careful before using free AI tools.
