French President Macron liked Mumbai city very much: PM Modi
Mumbai, 17 February. When he met French President Emmanuel Macron, who was in India on a three-day visit, and met Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he praised Mumbai highly. PM Modi gave this information on social media platform X.
PM Modi wrote along with a picture of his meeting with ‘his friend’, ‘Very happy to meet my friend, President Macron in Mumbai! He told me that he loved the city and that he even enjoyed his run (jogging) this morning!

Started the day with jogging on Marine Drive on the seashore
Shortly after reaching the financial capital early on Tuesday, Macron was seen in a different style on Marine Drive on the seashore. First Lady Brigitte Macron was also with him. He was seen jogging in blue shorts and T-shirt, from which it can be easily guessed how serious he is about fitness. His security team and Indian security officials were present with him. Mumbai Police personnel were also deployed on the road. The Prime Minister mentioned his race in his post.
Also paid tribute to the victims of Mumbai terror attack at the Taj
Maharashtra Governor Acharya Devvrat and Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis welcomed Macron at the Mumbai airport in the morning. Later, President Macron along with the First Lady also paid tribute to the victims of Mumbai Terror Attack at the Taj. After this he also met many Bollywood stars in Mumbai. These included artists like Manoj Bajpayee, Anil Kapoor, Shabana Azmi, Zoya Akhtar and Richa Chadha.

The two leaders will inaugurate the India-France Innovation Year 2026 in the evening. Modi and Macron will also address industrialists, startup founders, research experts, and people associated with innovation. During his visit, Macron will also attend the AI Impact Summit in Delhi.
This is President Macron’s fourth visit to India
This is President Macron’s fourth visit to India and his first official visit to Mumbai. Earlier, he had come to India for the first time in March 2018. Then he attended the G20 summit in September 2023 and the Republic Day celebrations in January 2024 as the chief guest.
India and France have a strategic partnership since 1998 and both countries work together in areas such as defence, technology, space and energy. This visit is also being considered important for taking this cooperation forward.
