‘Friends are in danger…’ Now Google AI will catch the fraudsters on the other side of the phone
Let’s say your father calls. Or a very dear friend. His name, number are all visible. After receiving the call, the voice on the other end is exactly the same. But it’s all a trap. Cheater on the other end of the phone! Google has taken drastic measures to prevent such novel frauds. The tech giant has come up with a feature that will capture all the fraud!
For now only Android users can use this feature. The feature is designed to identify calls that use AI-generated voices and fake phone numbers to catch crooks impersonating trusted acquaintances like family members, friends or colleagues in no time. As a result, users will get rid of the danger.
According to the company, this system is like a digital handshake between two phones. When someone you trust calls and Google is being used on both devices, the caller’s phone silently sends a verification signal that it’s not a fake call. But if the fraudster calls then the verification signal will not be sent. Your phone will then quickly verify everything with the contact’s original device. And if the original device confirms that no call is currently being made, Android will display a warning—saying that there’s probably an impostor on the other side of the phone—and recommending you hang up. As a result, rescue will be easy. However, it is known that the feature is for those who use Windows 12 or newer operating system on the phone.
