From 8th Pay Commission to credit score… there will be many changes on the first day of New Year 2026
New Delhi, 31 December. At the beginning of every year, some new rules come into force, which directly impact the life of the common man. Some such rules are going to come into effect from the first day of the new year 2026 i.e. January 1.
8th pay commission
The 8th Pay Commission will come into effect from January 1, 2026. The Central Government has already approved it. This will directly benefit about 50 lakh employees and about 69 lakh pensioners. The new pay commission may increase the salaries of government employees by 20 to 35 percent.
credit score
There is also going to be a big change in the credit score in the new year. At present the credit score is updated once a month, but from 2026 it will be updated every week i.e. every 7 days. With this, you will get the benefit of paying EMI on time soon.
PM Kisan Yojana
The Central Government has introduced a new system Kisan ID for those taking advantage of PM Kisan Yojana. This system is being implemented in many states like UP, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh from January 1, 2026. This digital ID will contain information about farmers’ land, crop, Aadhaar and bank etc. If this ID is not there then the annual assistance of Rs 6,000 under PM Kisan Yojana may stop.
CNG and PNG prices
In the new year, the prices of CNG used in vehicles and PNG used for cooking in homes may decrease by Rs 2-3 per unit. The reason for this is the tariff adjustment announced by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) which is going to be implemented from January 1, 2026. Apart from this, there may be changes in the prices of LPG gas and aviation fuel.
PAN-Aadhaar linking
The last date for linking PAN with Aadhaar is December 31, 2025. If you have not yet linked PAN to Aadhaar, your PAN card will become inactive from January 1. In such a situation, you may face difficulties in paying income tax and making big transactions in banks.
