World Liver Day is celebrated every year on 19 April to spread awareness about liver. According to experts, certain fruits and green leafy foods can help in keeping the liver healthy. Fruits like Amla and Papaya are considered beneficial for liver health.

According to the Ministry of AYUSH, the liver can be kept strong by adopting Ayurvedic lifestyle and proper eating habits.
Experts recommend including these fruits and leaves in your daily diet. These can be taken in the form of fresh fruits, juice or salad. It is also advised to avoid fried food, junk food and alcohol. Regular exercise and adequate sleep are also considered important for the liver.
Foods beneficial for liver
Gooseberry- Amla is considered the best friend of liver. Vitamin C and antioxidants are found in abundance in Amla, which helps in removing toxic elements from the body and detoxifying the liver. Consuming Amla daily or drinking its juice is considered helpful in keeping the liver healthy and strong.
Papaya- It increases digestion power and helps in removing the toxic substances accumulated in the liver from the body. It is also helpful in reducing inflammation of the liver.
Pomegranate- The antioxidants present in pomegranate juice help in protecting the liver cells from damage and are helpful in keeping the blood pure.
