Oil marketing companies have significantly increased the prices of LPG cylinders in all cities including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata. LPG Cylinder becomes expensive

January 1, 2026 has started with an inflation shock. Oil marketing companies have increased the prices of LPG Cylinder across the country. This increase has been made on 19 kg commercial LPG cylinder and from the first day of the year it has become costlier by Rs 111.

After the latest change, 19Kg LPG Cylinder which was available for Rs 1580.50 in Delhi has now become costlier at Rs 1691.50, in Kolkata it has become costlier at Rs 1795 instead of Rs 1684, in Mumbai at Rs 1642.50 instead of Rs 1531.50 and in Chennai it has become costlier at Rs 1849.50 instead of Rs 1739.5. Let us tell you that the prices of 14 kg domestic gas cylinder have not changed and it will be available at the rate of April 8, 2025.

On the other hand, just before the beginning of the new year, the gas company gave a big gift to the people of Delhi-NCR by cutting PNG price. IGL has announced a major reduction in domestic PNG prices by ₹ 0.70 per SCM for its customers. After this, PNG price became ₹ 47.89 per SCM in Delhi, ₹ 46.70 per SCM in Gurugram and ₹ 47.76 per SCM in Noida, Greater Noida and Ghaziabad.

While on one hand the oil marketing companies have given a shock by hiking the LPG price, on the other hand the date of January 1, 2026 has brought relief news for the air passengers. Actually, companies have reduced the prices of aviation fuel or jet fuel (ATF Price Cut). Its price in Delhi has been reduced from Rs 99,676.77 to Rs 92,323.02 per kilolitre.

Now the price of air turbine fuel in Kolkata has come down to Rs 95,378.02 per kilolitre, which till now was Rs 1,02,371.02 per kilolitre. Apart from this, ATF in Mumbai has been reduced from Rs 93,281.04 to Rs 86,352.19, while in Chennai it has been reduced from Rs 1,03,301.80 to Rs 95,770. Reduction in ATF price reduces operating costs and airlines can reduce air ticket prices, which will make travel cheaper for air passengers.

Buying a car has become expensive

The first day of the year 2026 has brought a shock for car buyers. Actually, many leading car companies have decided to increase the prices of their cars. Citing increasing input costs and operational expenses, these companies have announced an increase in the prices of their cars.

The prices of all models of German car company Mercedes-Benz are increasing by 2% from January 1. BMW has also increased the prices of its cars sold in India by 3% from the first date. Chinese car company BYD has announced to increase the price of Sealion-7, while MG Motors is increasing the prices of petrol, diesel and all EV variants by 2%. Japanese car manufacturer Nissan has increased the prices of its cars by 3%, while Renault has increased the prices of all models by 2%. Honda Cars may also increase prices this month.

Bumper Bank Holiday in the first month

While the month of January has brought many big changes, there are going to be bumper holidays in banks this month (Bank Holiday In January 2026). If we look at the list uploaded on the website of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), banks will remain closed for 16 days in January. There will be no work in banks on various occasions including Makar Sankranti and Republic Day. However, these Bank Holidays may vary from state to state.
