From Sarfaraz’s 150 to Ramandeep’s stunner, Suryakumar Yadav is watching it all!

New Delhi: It seems Suryakumar Yadav was watching it for Team India on Saturday through the comfort of his home as he heaped praise on Sarfaraz Khan and Ramandeep Singh on his social media handle. Sarfaraz, who was playing the first Test for India against New Zealand in Bengaluru, struck his maiden Test ton, scoring a magnificent 150, while Ramandeep was part of the winning India A side which beat arch-rivals Pakistan (A) by a narrow margin of seven runs at the ACC Men’s T20 Emerging Teams Asia Cup.

Suryakumar, who leads India in the T20 internationals, is currently out of action for the national outfit as he takes part in the ongoing Ranji Trophy for his domestic side Mumbai. However, he isn’t wasting his time when not on the field, keeping an eye on the young Indian players who are representing different Indian teams in global events. He was being an ideal senior watching the 1st IND vs NZ clash and the evening clash between IND A and PAK A.

As Sarfaraz scored his first century in Test cricket and bettered it with a 150 on the fourth day of the clash, Suryakumar took to his Instagram handle and shared a picture of his young Mumbai teammate, lauding him for his excellent knock with the same Bollywood dialog that he previously used for his (Sarfaraz’s) younger brother Musheer’s performance in the Duleep Trophy 2024.

He wrote, “Duty ke baad roz practice, jitna duty utna practice. Kar payega? (Practice daily after the duty and keep both levelled. Would you be able to do it),” which is a dialog from legendary cricketer MS Dhoni’s biopic. A few hours later, Surya watched Ramandeep Singh taking a one-handed stunner to dismiss a Pakistani batter in the campaign opening clash of the Emerging Teams Asia Cup that was held in Muscat, Oman.

He shared a story of the catch replay as well, adding a GIF of Superman for Ramandeep, indicating the flight that the cricketer took to grab the ball.

SKY to return in SA T20Is

Suryakumar recently led India to a brilliant 3-0 clean sweep of Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series. Although he is trying hard in the domestic circuit to make a return in red ball cricket for India, he has become regular in the shortest format for the national side due to his explosive batting skillset which is a basic requirement of the format. India won’t be playing one-day cricket anytime soon with a packed Test schedule.

But… Surya will be seen leading the Indian team in South Africa in the four-match T20I series that begins on November 8 in Durban. It is going to be an eight-day affair for the Indian team which will be touring the Rainbow Nation, for which the squads are yet to be announced.
