‘From shooting down 11 jets in India-Pak conflict to 200 percent tariff…’ Trump made new exaggerated claim
Trump’s claim on India-Pakistan war: US President Donald Trump, who is trying to prove himself as a peacemaker to the world, is making different claims every day. Trump has claimed on several occasions to stop the India-Pakistan conflict. Meanwhile, speaking at his Board of Peace event, Trump has exaggerated his claims. He said that 11 jets were shot down during the war between India and Pakistan.

US President Trump reiterated his claim that he had mediated between India and Pakistan during the 2025 military standoff. Trump claimed he had threatened to impose 200 percent tariffs on both nuclear-armed neighbors unless they stopped fighting. However, the Indian government has consistently denied all claims of any third-party interference or loss of the plane during the military confrontation in May last year.
Trump reiterated that Sharif had claimed that Trump had saved “25 million lives” by brokering a deal between New Delhi and Islamabad. To Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who was present at the event, the US President said, “You made that statement. I said 25 million lives, actually it could have been much more, but it was really a beautiful thing… That war was in full swing. Planes were being shot down, and it was Pakistan and India.”

Trump claimed that he used his tariff policy to interfere with the peace agreement. He said, “I spoke to both of them on the phone, and I knew them a little bit. I knew Prime Minister Modi very well. I called them, and I said, listen, if you can’t resolve this, I will not do a trade deal with both of you… And suddenly, we made a deal.”
The US President further said, “I said, if you fight, I will put 200 percent tariffs on both of your countries. They both wanted to fight. But when it came to money, it was nothing like money. When it came to losing a lot of money, they said, I guess we don’t want to fight… 11 jets were shot down. Very expensive jets.”
