From technology to strength, Indian Army is giving a new edge to its combat capability with the help of AI.

In the changing war landscape of the digital age Indian Army Now moving beyond the traditional structure, the Indian Army is transforming itself into a data-centric and technology-enabled force. The forum of India AI Impact Summit 2026 held in the capital gave a clear indication that the Army is not just preparing for the future, but is actively shaping it.

In the vision presented by the Army in the summit, it was clearly stated that the objective is not just to adopt new technology, but to implement it effectively at the ground level (Indian Army AI). Major General VTS Varaich, Additional Director General of Military Information Systems, said the Indian Army is emphasizing on ‘functional technology’,

That is, systems that directly improve operational efficiency. According to him, the Army is now working on integrated network structure, which will enable quick decisions and coordination in multi-domain operations.

Self-reliance and secure digital capabilities are central to the Army’s strategy. Collaboration with industry and technical institutions is being given priority to develop indigenous solutions. The objective of this partnership is to create such AI-based tools that will take the operational efficiency of soldiers and commanders deployed on the borders to new heights. The Army believes that the future battlefield will span not only physical but also cyber and information dimensions, where data analytics and real-time intelligence will play a decisive role.

However, with the increasing use of AI, new challenges are also emerging. Especially technologies like ‘Deepfake’ can become a threat to the security system (Indian Army AI). The Army indicated that it is working on AI tools that have an accuracy of more than 99.5 percent so that fake digital content can be identified immediately. To maintain the credibility of digital information, ‘trust algorithms’ are being developed, which will confirm the source and authenticity of the data.

Experts believe that the integrated use of AI, quantum computing and advanced communication technologies can qualitatively transform India’s defense capabilities. This change will not be limited to just the security of the borders, but will also strengthen the broader framework of national security.

This technological transformation of the Indian Army indicates that combat strategies will be smarter, faster and data-based in the years to come. Amidst the changing global challenges, this initiative is being considered a decisive step towards adapting the country’s defense system to the future.
