Moradabad:- The demand for dates is skyrocketing in the holy month of Ramzan, but the game of wholesalers of the fruit market by packing cheaply priced dates in boxes of expensive branded dates and supplying them in the markets is in full swing. According to the brokers of the wholesale market, dates worth crores of rupees are traded every month in the district. In which this manipulation is being done on a large scale to earn huge profits. In the market, cheap local dates are being packed in attractive plastic boxes by pasting stickers of famous brands like ‘Makka’ or ‘Madina’.

Those fasting who break fast with dates in Ramadan should be careful, if you are buying dates named Iranian Kimia Gold, Kimia Dates for Rs 200 to Rs 300 per kg, then you are being cheated because Hadkhoda Mazafati dates, which are priced at Rs 20 to 50 per kg, are being packed in plastic boxes of Kimia Gold called Hadkhoda Mazafati dates and Mariam Mazafati Bam dates. Wholesale traders are earning lakhs from this business of defrauding consumers in the fruit market. Whereas common buyers are forced to pay expensive prices. Brokers, on the condition of anonymity, said that cheap dates are sold at Rs 20 to Rs 50 per kg, but after branded packing, they are being sold at Rs 200 to Rs 300. A case has already come to light in the fruit market of selling cheap dates by packing them in branded boxes. Also, at the commission agents where these dates are being packed, most of the minor boys and girls are seen doing this packing.
If sources are to be believed, these commission agents neither have the license to do packing, nor are they defrauding the GST department.
