Fuel crisis in India amid Iran-Israel war? Government said, don’t panic, there is no shortage of oil and gas – ..
News India Live, Digital Desk: The ongoing fierce conflict in West Asia and the sound of Iran-Israel war has created a stir in the global energy market. India imports about 80-90% of its oil needs from these Gulf countries, so fears of supply chain disruption have increased concerns about commercial LPG and oil prices. However, the central government has clarified that there is no shortage of fuel in the country and the situation is completely under control.
Government gave assurance: ‘Eyes are fixed, no need to panic’
Union Minister Piyush Goyal and Minister of State Shobha Karandlaje have appealed to the countrymen and especially the hotel-restaurant operators not to panic. Ministers have made it clear that:
Supervision: The government and concerned departments are keeping an eye on global developments every minute.
Secure Supply: Alternative trade routes are being explored so that any disruption in the Strait of Hormuz does not affect India’s energy security.
Initiatives of Petroleum Ministry: Union Minister Hardeep Singh Puri is reviewing the situation so that there is uninterrupted availability of petroleum products in the domestic markets.
Essential Commodities Act implemented
The government has implemented the ‘Essential Commodities Act’ as a precautionary measure. Under this, refineries have been instructed to maximize LPG production. The government has prepared a new priority framework for supplies:
Domestic Consumers (Top Priority): 100% supply of piped gas (PNG) for homes and CNG for vehicles will be ensured.
Industry (80% supply): Manufacturing sectors and industrial units will continue to get 80% of their average consumption.
Fertilizer Plant (70% Supply): To ensure that farming is not affected, 70% gas has been allocated to fertilizer factories.
Why did the concern arise?
About 30% of India’s natural gas imports pass through the Strait of Hormuz. Due to the war, the risk of drone and missile attacks on this sea route has increased. For this reason, there were reports of shortage of commercial LPG cylinders, due to which small restaurant and hotel businessmen were worried.
naval preparation
According to reports, the Indian Navy is also considering sending its warships to safely rescue Indian oil tankers and cargo ships stranded in the Gulf region. The government’s aim is that international tension should not affect the kitchen and pocket of the common Indian.
