Complete record of criminals will be opened in 35 seconds while walking on the road, Abhigyan app launched

NAFIS Fingerprint Database: A big step has been taken towards making the crime control and investigation system in the country hi-tech. Let us tell you that now police and security agencies can scan the fingerprint of any suspect on the spot and get his criminal record within a few seconds. For which National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has created a new mobile app named Abhigyan. Which has also been launched by Union Home Minister Amit Shah. If we talk about this app, it is connected to the country’s largest fingerprint database NAFIS (National Automated Fingerprint Identification System). Where biometric records of lakhs of accused, convicts and prisoners are kept safe.

Suspects will be identified on the road itself

In earlier times, to match the fingerprints of any person, he had to be taken to the police station or district headquarters. But after the introduction of the new system, policemen can complete the investigation by taking thumb impressions with the help of portable fingerprint scanner on the road itself. The most important thing in this is that after scanning the fingerprint, its matching with the national database is completed in just 35 seconds. Due to which it becomes easier and faster to catch wanted criminals and absconding accused.

Real-time results will be available on smartphone

Information has emerged in the reports that at present the facility of fingerprint checking is limited to only 1,556 workstations across the country. In such a situation, the investigation process took time. But through Abhigyan app, police officers can directly view the records of the suspect on their smartphones. Let us tell you that this app will be secured with two-step authentication and will bring results in real-time. This will not only increase the efficiency of the investigating agencies but will also speed up the identification of criminals.

More than 1.3 crore records will be available

If we talk about NAFIS database, it already contains information about 1.3 crore suspects and culprits. This includes big data of 9.91 lakh drug trafficking cases, 3.65 lakh human trafficking cases and jail records. In such a situation, experts say that this technology will make policing more scientific and data-based.
