On June 15, 25 years of the release of this historical film are going to be completed. On this special occasion, Ameesha shared her memories related to the film and talked openly about its success and popularity. He claimed that the success of Gadar and Gadar 2 has been more than any other franchise.
In an interview, Ameesha Patel told that Gadar gave her great recognition not only in India but also in Pakistan. He said that after the release of the film, there were continuous phone calls from Pakistan. Many women contacted him and told that they had become emotional after watching the film. Not only this, many families had named their daughters after her character ‘Sakina’ in the film.
Recounting an emotional incident, Ameesha said that she had received a call from an elderly woman who said that “Sakina made the whole of Pakistan cry.” According to the actress, this is one of the most memorable experiences of her career.
Recalling the success of the film, Ameesha said that Gadar had received an overwhelming response from the very first day of its release. The film had a record-breaking performance in single screen theaters during that period. The audience loved the film so much that it became one of the biggest blockbusters of Indian cinema.
However, the actress says that at that time she was so busy with her career that she could not fully enjoy the success of the film. In the initial phase, she was continuously shooting for many films and was busy running from one set to another. For this reason there was not enough opportunity to celebrate the success of Gadar.
Ameesha Patel further claimed that Gadar and Gadar 2 together are one of the most successful franchise films of Indian cinema. He said that even after 25 years, people remember the characters and dialogues of the film. According to the actress, the popularity of Gadar has increased with time and its second part also proved to be a tsunami at the box office.
Talking about box office figures, Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, released in 2001, did a business of more than Rs 132 crore worldwide. Gadar 2, released in 2023, had made many records by making a global collection of around Rs 686 crore.
Talking about the work front, Ameesha Patel was last seen in Tauba Tera Jalwa. However, this film could not do anything special at the box office. Currently, her fans are waiting for the next part of Gadar franchise and new projects of the actress.
