Game over of fake calls: Now companies will call from this special series instead of 10 digit mobile number. – ..

News India Live, Digital Desk: In today’s time, there is hardly anyone whose phone does not receive 4-5 unknown calls a day. Sometimes take a credit card, sometimes “Sir, your insurance policy is about to be renewed”. The biggest problem arises when it becomes difficult to differentiate between the genuine company and the scammers. Fraudsters often call from any normal mobile number and pretend to be insurance agents and then commit fraud.

But now you do not need to panic, because the telecom regulator TRAI has now made full preparations to rein in these thugs.

Now calls will not come from mobile number
Agents often used to call from the same 10 digit private mobile number that you and I use. But TRAI has made it clear that now no bank or insurance company can use 10 digit common mobile numbers to call its customers.

According to the new instructions of TRAI, now insurance companies ‘1600’ Series (1600 Number Series) Will have to be used.

What is the logic of ‘1600’?
Understand it in simple language like this-
If your phone rings and a number appears on the screen that ‘1600’ If it starts with , it means that this call has come from a registered and genuine company. This could be a service call or a call made to give policy information.

But, if someone claims that he is calling from ‘XYZ Insurance Company’ and the call is coming from a common mobile number (like 98xxxx, 99xxxx), then be immediately alert. It may be a fraud who is trying to trap you.

The rule will apply not only to insurance but also to banks.
TRAI is bringing this rule in collaboration with Reserve Bank of India (RBI), SEBI and Insurance Regulator (IRDAI). Its objective is clear – to prevent financial fraud. Now, whether it is a bank or an insurance company, everyone will have to use this prescribed series for their ‘transactional’ and ‘service’ calls.

When will the change happen?
If reports are to be believed, the regulators have also set a time limit for this. All insurance companies and financial institutions will have to shift their call management to this new system. Common customers like us will directly benefit from this. Now you will know as soon as the call comes whether to answer the call or disconnect.
