“Ganga Utsav” organized on the 8th year of River Ganga being declared the “National River” of India.
Bhadohi –The program of “Ganga Utsav” is celebrated every year on 4 November to commemorate the declaration of River Ganga as the “National River” of India by the National Clean Ganga Mission, Ministry of Jal Shakti. In the same sequence, as per the instructions of District Magistrate Vishal Singh on the eighth edition of Ganga Utsav, Ganga Aarti, Deep Utsav, lamp donation and miscellaneous under the banner of District Ganga Committee under the leadership of Chief Development Officer Dr. Shivakant Dwivedi and Divisional Forest Officer Neeraj Arya were organized at Semradh Nath Ghat. Cultural program was organized. In this sequence, emphasis was laid on various aspects related to the religious and cultural including historical aspects of the national river Ganga and the development journey of the cities located on the banks of the Ganga. Signature campaign and Ganga Cleanliness Pledge was conducted to reiterate people's commitment to keep Ganga clean and pure. People were made aware about the conservation of the national river Ganga by taking out a rally on Ganga Chetna by the students of Inter and Degree Colleges.
Giving information about the upcoming programs under Ganga Utsav, the Divisional Forest Officer said that Ganga Katha or Ganga Gatha, Ganga Avtaran, mythological and historical aspects of river Ganga will be staged, as well as river bhajans and Ganga songs as part of school activities. Emphasis will be placed on song. As part of sports activities, cycling, marathon, boat race etc. will be organised. Awareness programs will be organized by the students in basic, intermediate and degree colleges through seminars on various topics related to water conservation, river rejuvenation and environment and ecology. Local items, traditional ingredients and styles of local cuisine will be installed on the Ganga Ghats. Deputy Commissioner MNREGA Rajaram, Block Development Officer, village head and a large number of area residents and district residents were present in the program.
