Ganguly called Kohli the greatest white ball player

Former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly refused to say much about Virat Kohli's poor form for a long time and on Monday described the batting maestro as the greatest white-ball player who is rarely born.

Kohli scored a century in the second innings in the opening Perth Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy but after that could score only 85 runs in the next seven innings. India lost the series 1-3 in Australia due to poor performance by senior players like Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma.

Incredible to score 81 international centuries

“Cricketers like Virat Kohli are rarely born,” Ganguly said during the Bengal Cricket Association (CAB) felicitation ceremony for the state's players. Scoring 81 international centuries in his career is incredible. For me, he is probably the greatest white-ball player in the world.'' On Kohli's struggle after his century in Perth, Ganguly said that he too was surprised that he could not score a century in the remaining matches of the series.

Every player has his own weakness and strength

Ganguly said, 'I was really surprised how he batted after scoring the century in Perth. Earlier he had to struggle, but after scoring a century in Perth I thought this would be a big series for him. He said, “But I think it happens. Every player has his own weakness and strength. You know that there is no such player in the world with whom this will not happen. It depends on how you adjust to your weaknesses over time while playing against great bowlers.
