Gary Kirsten Appointed as Sri Lanka Head Coach

Former South Africa opener Gary Kirsten has been appointed as the head coach of the Sri Lanka Men’s team, effective from April 15.

His appointment comes after SLC named Jamie Siddons as the head coach of the National Women’s Team.

“The appointment of the new head coach is part of Sri Lanka Cricket’s efforts to revamp the structure of the National High Performance Centre,” said SLC in a statement.

During his tenure with the respective teams, he guided both teams to new heights in international cricket, where India won the title in the 2011 ODI World Cup, while South Africa became the number 1-ranked team in all formats by 2013.

Gary Kirsten has been involved with Namibia Cricket as a consultant during the recently concluded Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
