The popular fuel RON95 dropped 0.38% to VND21,140 (US$0.84) per liter Thursday afternoon ahead of Vietnam’s biggest holiday Tet.

Biofuel E5 RON92 went down 0.77% to VND20,590.

Diesel gained 2.07% to VND20,190, highest since July 19.

Regulators said that fuel prices in the last seven days were affected by cold weather in the U.S. and Europe, which drove up demand, and U.S. President Donald Trump’s new policies which will likely boost fossil fuel production.

Gasolines dropped 0.1-0.7% during the period while oils fell 2.8-4.7%.

RON95 is now at $87 per barrel while diesel is at $98.1.

Due to the Lunar New Year Tet holiday, which begins Saturday, the subsequent date for fuel price adjustment is scheduled for next Saturday, two days later than usual.
