‘Gaurav Gogoi insulted me’, Bhupen Kumar Bora now openly attacked

Bhupen Kumar Bora, who had left Congress despite good will, is now certain to join Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Bhupen Kumar Bora, who was avoiding making allegations by taking the name of any leader till Monday and Tuesday, is now openly making allegations. Former Assam Congress President Bhupen Kumar Bora has said that Gaurav Gogoi had humiliated him regarding alliance talks. Bhupen says that he had also asked questions to Gaurav Gogoi regarding this but did not get any answer. He has told that this matter was also put forward to Rahul Gandhi but no one did anything. On his allegations, Gaurav Gogoi says that whoever joins BJP, he is given a script and he has to read it.

Bhupen Kumar Bora, who suddenly resigned from Congress on Monday, has been a two-time MLA and State Congress President. After his removal, Gaurav Gogoi was given the command of Assam. Bhupen Kumar Bora did not take anyone’s name in his resignation letter on Monday. From the top leadership of Congress to the state leadership had tried to convince Bhupen by visiting his house. On Tuesday, Bhupen Bora had said that he has some questions, he will withdraw his resignation only if they are answered and he is satisfied.

What did Bhupen Kumar Bora say?

Now Bhupen Bora, referring to the events of the year 2021, has said, ‘I gave 32 years to Congress. Congress made me from MLA to AICC Secretary and APCC President. I had joined Congress because in the AICC session of 1926, my grandfather had given thousands of pots to make the tent of the pandal. We have that relationship with the party.

He further said, ‘When I became the president of APCC in the year 2021, Congress’s alliance was with AIUDF. I broke that alliance and formed an alliance by uniting 16 parties in Assam. When by-elections for 5 assembly seats came, it was decided to give one seat to CPI (ML). I also agreed to this. I took this decision with everyone’s opinion but suddenly at night an announcement was made and Congress ticket was given to a person who was never a member of Congress. Alliance partners raised questions that you cannot give us one seat out of 5? I failed on this and resigned but could Gaurav Gogoi win that seat?

Gaurav Gogoi vs Bhupen Kumar Bora

Taking a dig at Gaurav Gogoi, Bhupen Bora says, ‘Still I remained silent because the party could have suffered loss. On February 9 of this month, a video conference was held to form an alliance once again. Many leaders including Jitendra Singh were there. It was decided that only Bhupen Bora would form the alliance for this work. I refused but I was forcefully told that you have to do this. I started the conversation on 10th February and on the night of 11th February I got a call from Gaurav Gogoi. He told me that Dada, you are not alone, take Rakibul Hasan along with you. I said that this is not the decision of the meeting. After 2 minutes, Pradyut Bordoloi called that if you do this, I will not allow it. Debabrata Saikia said that you should work according to the things decided in the meeting. So, what do I do? Where should I go?’

He further said, ‘Still I kept working. Kept talking. Fixed the time. Fixed the meeting place. Akhil Gogoi and Lurin Gogoi were called to a place but Gaurav Gogoi announced that Bhupen Bora had created a misunderstanding and he was not alone, Rakibul Hasan was also with him. I asked why did you say this in public? Why did you humiliate me publicly? Earlier also I had written a letter to Gaurav Gogoi asking him not to force me to hold a press conference against him. I also told these things to the high command but no hearing took place.

Regarding joining BJP, he says that he talked to CM Himanta whether he can remain in BJP like this or not. Bhupen Bora has said that Himanta has assured him that he can stay like this but he will have to talk some things in the drawing room, some in the verandah and some in the balcony.
