Gauri Vrat, also known as ‘Molakat Vrat’, is considered very important for unmarried girls and married women. In this five-day fast, Goddess Gauri, Lord Shiva and Lord Ganesha are worshipped.
The significance of Gauri Vrat
This fast begins on the Ekadashi of the Shukla Paksha of the month of Ashadha, i.e. ‘Ekadashi of Devshay’. It is believed that by doing this Vrat, unmarried girls get a favorite and suitable partner, while married women keep this Vrat for their happy married life and prosperity.
Gauri Vrat 2026: When will it start?
As per Vedic Almanac, Ashadha Shukla Ekadashi Tithi will start on July 24, 2026 at 9:12 am and end on July 25 at 11:34 am. Based on Udaya Tithi, Gauri Vrat will start from 25 July 2026, Saturday.
Auspicious Muhurat (First Day) of Puja
Brahma Muhurta: 4:16 AM to 4:57 AM.
Abhijit Muhurta: 12:00 PM to 12:55 PM.
Auspicious-Uttam Muhurat: 7:21 am to 9:03 am.
Pradosh Kaal (Benefit-Enhancement): 7:17 PM to 8:34 PM.
Five days of worship
This fast is performed continuously for five days. The fasting girls make idols of Mother Gauri, Lord Shiva and Ganesha from the holy clay and perform puja and aarti morning and evening. Night vigil is also a tradition in many places.
Conclusion of Vrata
After five days of devotional worship, the Vrat is broken on the day of Ashadhi Poonam. This year Gauri Vrat will conclude on 29 July 2026, Wednesday. Purnima Tithi will start from 6:18 pm on July 28 and last until 8:05 pm on July 29.
