Gautam Adani discusses partnership in aviation sector with Bombardier CEO

Gautam Adani, chairman of the Adani Group, discussed transformational partnerships in the aviation sector with Bombardier CEO Eric Martel in a high-level meeting. On Wednesday, Gautam Adani informed on the social media platform X that the aim is to have better synergy to build a self-reliant and strong India.

The Adani Group chairman said, “Transformational partnerships in aircraft services, MRO and defence were discussed with Bombardier CEO Eric Martel to drive the growth of India's aviation sector.” He further added, “We can use partnerships to contribute to making India strong and self-reliant.”

Adani Group established Adani Airports Holdings Limited (AAHL) in 2019 and it is a 100 percent owned company of Adani Enterprises. AAHL has a large portfolio in the aviation sector. Currently, the company has major airports like Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Mangalore, Jaipur, Guwahati and Thiruvananthapuram.

Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) will also be added to AAHL's portfolio from December 2024. Currently, AAHL is the country's largest airport infrastructure company. This company handles 25 percent of the country's total passenger footfall and 33 percent of air cargo traffic.

On October 5, the Air Force will test the landing of a fighter jet on the runway at Navi Mumbai International Airport (NMIA) in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. Operations at NMIA will begin in two phases. This airport will have the capacity to handle 2 crore passengers annually. This airport will be connected to Atal Setu and Metro Rail. Its cost is around Rs 16,700 crore.
