India won the toss for the Sunday match and decided to field first. Roston Chase scored 40 runs from 25 balls with five fours and one six while Shai Hope scored 32 runs from 33 balls with three fours and one six to create an opening partnership which produced 68 runs before West Indies lost their fourth wicket at 119 runs in 14.1 overs despite Shimron Hetmyer scoring 27 runs from 12 balls with one four and two sixes. Jason Holder and Powell together created a destructive partnership which lasted 76 runs through 35 balls to advance WI team score to 195 runs for four wickets after they completed 20 overs.
Jasprit Bumrah led the Indian bowling attack through his 2/36 performance across four overs while Varun Chakaravarthy and Hardik Pandya both bowled four overs each to record 1/40 results.
India lost their second wicket when they reached 41 runs during the first six overs of the match. The 58-run partnership between Samson and Suryakumar Yadav 18 brought the chase back on track. Sanju built partnerships with Tilak Varma 27 from 15 balls who scored four boundaries and one six and Hardik Pandya 17 and Shivam Dube 8 to lead India to a five-wicket victory.
