After India’s dominant win in Ahmedabad, former India wicketkeeper-batter Dhoni shared an Instagram post congratulating the team. He cheekily told Gambhir to flash more smiles, noting, “Intensity with a smile is a killer combo.”
“Coach Sahab smile looks great on you, intensity with smile is a killer combo,” Dhoni wrote.
On Monday, Gambhir responded, saying the World Cup victory was a perfect reason to smile and added it was wonderful to see Dhoni.
“And what a reason to smile. Great seeing you,” Gambhir wrote in the comment section.
The Gambhir-Dhoni duo delivered some unforgettable moments on the field, notably in India’s 2011 World Cup triumph over Sri Lanka. Despite past controversies, including Gambhir questioning the idea of team hierarchies, the pair have always maintained a friendly rapport in public appearances.
Before the T20 World Cup 2026 final kicked off in Ahmedabad, Rohit Sharma and MS Dhoni walked out with the trophy.
Rohit and Dhoni were seen cheering for India. In the T20 World Cup final, India posted 255/5 with half-centuries from Sanju Samson, Ishan Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma.
Jasprit Bumrah starred with the ball, claiming four wickets as India dismissed New Zealand for 159 to seal a 96-run win. Bumrah earned the Player of the Match, while Sanju Samson was named the Player of the Tournament.
