Gaza again shaken amid ceasefire, eight including two innocent killed, many injured in Israeli air strikes

New Delhi. Despite the ceasefire in Gaza Strip, violence is not stopping. On Monday, Israel carried out airstrikes in several areas of southern and central Gaza, killing at least eight people, including two children, while more than 20 were injured. According to local health officials and relief agencies, the injured are undergoing treatment in various hospitals.

The biggest attack took place in Al Mawasi area of Khan Yunis in southern Gaza, where tents of displaced people were targeted. A 23-year-old woman and her one-year-old daughter died in this attack. According to the hospital administration, a warning was issued in the area before the attack. In another airstrike in Karara town of the same region, a 31-year-old man, who was married only a few months ago and his wife is pregnant, lost his life.

Two people were killed and 13 others injured in another attack on tents of displaced people in the coastal area of Khan Yunis. The injured have been admitted to a field hospital run by the Palestinian Red Crescent where they are undergoing treatment.

Three Palestinians were killed in a drone strike in Deir al-Balah, central Gaza. The dead include an eight-year-old child, his grandfather and another person. According to hospital officials, the child had come to meet his injured mother and his mother was also injured in the attack. The Israeli military said the attack targeted a militant but did not identify the man or confirm whether he had been killed.

Fighting may have reduced on a large scale after the ceasefire came into effect, but almost daily air strikes continue in Gaza. Gaza’s Health Ministry claims that since the ceasefire came into force, 1045 Palestinians have died, including more than 360 women and children. Israel says that its military action is only against those militants who were preparing to attack its soldiers. According to the Israeli army, five of its soldiers have also been killed in militant attacks after the ceasefire.

  • According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 73 thousand Palestinians have died so far since the war started in October 2023. On the other hand, Israel says that in the Hamas attack on October 7, 2023, about 1200 people were killed and 251 people were taken hostage.

On the other hand, there is tension in the West Bank also. A 15-year-old Palestinian teenager has died after being shot in the head during an Israeli army raid near Ramallah. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, at least 59 Palestinians have been killed in actions by Israeli troops and settlers in the West Bank this year.
