Getting up repeatedly to urinate in the middle of the night is not a normal thing, know what signal your body is giving you.
News India Live, Digital Desk: The matter is a bit serious, and perhaps many of us men do not even like to talk about it openly. It has often been seen that people avoid problems related to the prostate gland by saying, “This happens with old age”. But this ‘avoidance’ sometimes turns out to be very costly. If you and I are a little aware, then not only can this disease be caught in time, but its successful treatment is also possible. Let us see what the body is trying to say in hushed tones. 1. Change in the way you urinate: Have you noticed that there is difficulty in urinating or that the flow has become very weak? If urine is coming intermittently or it seems that the stomach has not been completely emptied, this may be the first sign of prostate enlargement. This gland surrounds the urinary pipe, so any disturbance in it directly affects our bathroom routine.2. Waking up repeatedly at night: If instead of sleeping peacefully throughout the night, you have to get up two or three times to urinate, then do not ignore it. We think of it as ‘lack of sleep’, whereas it could also indicate some lump or problem in the prostate.3. The appearance of blood in urine or semen is like a ‘red signal’. If you ever notice slight blood stains in urine or semen, you should talk to your doctor (urologist) without wasting even a minute. This can be a sign not only of cancer but also of infection, but its treatment is very important.4. Pain in pelvic area and bones: If prostate cancer starts growing slowly, then sometimes a dull pain persists in the hips, lower back or thighs. Many men consider it to be just fatigue or weakness and start taking painkillers. Remember, if there is unnecessary bone pain without any injury, then doctor’s opinion is necessary.5. Urgency: Sometimes suddenly it seems that it is impossible to stop urine and you have to run to the bathroom. This is also called ‘not being able to control’. If this is happening several times a day, then understand that there is some kind of pressure on the prostate gland. The simple thing is this… prostate cancer does not mean that the world has ended. If you are over 50 (or someone in your family has had it before), you should have a PSA test (a blood test) done from time to time. This is not a caution to scare, but to live a carefree life. Don’t ignore the voice of your body. There is no shame in seeing a doctor on time—precaution is health’s best friend.
