Filmmaker Neeraj Pandey said in his affidavit that although the new title of the Manoj Bajpayee starrer film has not been finalized yet, it will not be like the previous name. He also said, “Although the new title has not been finalized yet, I ensure that whatever title is identified and adopted going forward, will not be the same or similar to the earlier title about which objections were raised, and will accurately reflect the story.”

On February 12, the Supreme Court had reprimanded Pandey over the title of his film and had said that a section of the society cannot be humiliated in the name of freedom of speech. The Supreme Court was hearing an application seeking a ban on the release of the film on OTT platform Netflix.

On the Supreme Court order, the petitioner’s lawyer Vishwapati Trivedi said, “Brahmin Samaj of India had filed this petition. There was a hearing on this earlier also, in which the court had very strictly ordered the makers of the film to change the name… Today their senior lawyer brought an affidavit that the name of the film will be changed and they will not keep such a ridiculous name again…”

Trivedi further said, “I want to thank the government for supporting this case. The Solicitor General and his team were also present today and supported our side of the case… The case will not end until they change the name of the film before its release on February 26…”
