The whole country is immersed in celebrations regarding the new year 2026. Preparations have already been completed to welcome the New Year. Celebratory atmosphere will start across the country at 12 o’clock tonight. At the same time, gig workers have earlier announced a nationwide strike. In fact, these delivery partners are raising their voice against the pressure of their falling earnings, unsafe 10-minute delivery model, lack of social security. Unions claim that lakhs of workers will be involved, due to which delivery services in big cities can be badly affected. By doing this, companies may have to suffer huge losses.
Why is the strike happening?
Let us tell you that, the union says that despite the increase in demand of gig workers, their working style is not changing. The companies neither pay them proper salaries nor are they guaranteed security. This strike has been called due to the poor condition of delivery workers. Due to the 10 minute delivery model, gig workers on the road become victims of accidents. Despite delivering day and night in sunshine, heat, cold and rain, they do not get facilities like accident insurance, health insurance and pension from the companies.
